Meet Jason Gordon
Owner, Square One Property Pros | Home Improvement Professional
Jason Gordon is the owner of Square One Property Pros and a home improvement professional whose industry experience dates back to 2001. His career began as a flooring installer, giving him more than two decades of experience spanning hands-on installation, residential sales, estimating, field measuring, project management, contractor management, and home improvement business operations.
Unlike many professionals who enter the industry through sales or management, Jason spent the first 13 years of his career working as a flooring installer. That foundation provided firsthand knowledge of what actually happens on a jobsite, from project preparation and installation challenges to material performance, workmanship, and troubleshooting difficult conditions in the field.
From Installer to Sales, Measuring & Management
Jason entered the flooring industry in 2001 as a professional flooring installer and remained in installation through 2014.
Those years in the field became the foundation for the rest of his career. Working directly inside customers' homes gave him practical experience with jobsite conditions, installation methods, product limitations, project preparation, troubleshooting, and the real-world issues that aren't always apparent when looking at a proposal or product specification.
In 2014, Jason transitioned from installation into residential sales. His field experience proved particularly valuable when helping homeowners plan projects because he understood not only how to sell a project but also how that project would ultimately need to be installed.
From sales, he moved into field measuring, estimating, CAD-based project planning, and eventually management.
While working with a Lowe's installation provider, Jason visited customers' homes to evaluate flooring projects, identify installation requirements, create detailed CAD drawings, and provide the information necessary for Lowe's associates to accurately sell and prepare projects for installation.
He was later promoted into management, where he hired, trained, and managed a team of eight field measurers and oversaw quality control before projects were submitted for sale and installation. During this period, the operation expanded from approximately 10 Lowe's stores to more than 30 locations across multiple states, processing hundreds of residential projects each week.
Jason also helped modernise an operation that had previously relied heavily on paper-based processes by implementing CRM and CAD technology and training employees throughout the company to use the new systems. These operational improvements helped support significant growth while improving project accuracy, communication, and efficiency.
Building and Operating a Home Improvement Company
In 2020, Jason founded Square 1 Home Improvement Solutions, where he managed virtually every aspect of the business, from the initial customer consultation through project completion.
His responsibilities included in-home sales, estimating, product selection, project planning, contractor hiring and management, scheduling, purchasing, billing, customer communication, quality control, and resolving the unexpected issues that inevitably arise during residential construction. The company built a strong reputation with homeowners, earning more than 100 five-star reviews on Angi in approximately two years.
That experience ultimately evolved into Square One Property Pros, an owner-led home improvement company built around a principle Jason considers essential to successful construction – "Good craftsmanship matters, but good communication is just as important."
That philosophy became the foundation of the Square One Property Pros motto – "Built on communication. Backed by craftsmanship.”
Home Improvement Sales & Operations Experience
In addition to owning and operating his own home improvement company, Jason has been involved in developing and improving residential construction operations for other organizations.
His experience has included building home improvement operations and processes from the ground up, developing pricing and estimating systems, establishing manufacturer and distributor relationships, implementing CRM technology, developing contractor networks, recruiting and vetting installers, hiring sales representatives and lead generators, developing sales processes, training teams, and creating systems for managing projects from initial lead through installation.
Jason has also worked directly with manufacturers, distributors, installers, sales professionals, lead generators, project managers, and homeowners. This has provided him with a broad understanding of how the different pieces of a successful home improvement operation work together.
Jason's experience spans installation, sales, estimating, project planning, management, and business ownership, giving him a unique understanding of every stage of the home improvement process. He understands what installers encounter in the field, what homeowners consider when comparing proposals, and what contractors must coordinate behind the scenes to successfully complete a project.
Practical Home Improvement Advice Based on Real Experience
His goal is to help homeowners make informed decisions by understanding products, installation methods, contractor proposals, project pricing, and potential pitfalls before work begins.
Rather than relying on generic advice, Jason shares insights gained from years of installing, estimating, selling, managing, and troubleshooting projects. This real-world perspective helps homeowners understand both the planning and execution required for successful projects, while emphasizing clear communication, transparent pricing, quality workmanship, and realistic expectations.
